Kutenai Art Therapy Institute (KATI) offers a 2-year, post-baccalaureate art therapy training program accredited by the BC Ministry of Advanced Education (PTIB) and the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA). We offer both a Campus and a blended Distance Program. The Institute is dedicated to promoting and providing art therapy as a mental health and community service.
Students at KATI study a diverse range of theoretical approaches and are encouraged to work with a broad range of people. Emphasis is placed on developing a strong cultural sensitivity and ethical awareness. KATI students must have a Bachelor’s degree, including required psychology courses (or the documented equivalent). Students enter the program with a wide range of skills and backgrounds. Student interns work with clients throughout the program. 300 hours of direct client contact is required. The referral form below will help to ensure that students and clients are thoughtfully paired. Student interns work closely with supervisors to support the client’s treatment goals each step of the way.
